Last August, my 2 sisters and I went on the CMA 2024 Acadian Heritage Tour with Novacadie Tours and Richard Laurin as our tour guide.
Every morning as we boarded the bus we would say to each other, "It can't get any better", but everyday it did. Richard, Yvette and our bus driver Terry were truly amazing. They are experienced, full of knowledge, adapted when necessary and even threw in some fun surprises. They kept things running smoothly and everyone happy.
We learned so much more about our Acadian Heritage & history than we thought possible, saw beautiful scenery and places and met the most wonderful people and "cousins" along the way. We will never forget this great experience. It truly was the trip of a lifetime!!

I was part of the wonderful 11 day Great Acadian Heritage CMA 2024 Tour in August of this year. A group of 50 men and women who have Acadian heritage, took part in this tour throughout Nova Scotia and New Brunswick. Our tour guide Richard Laurin and his assistant Yvette, did such an amazing job! Richard has a great passion and knowledge of Acadian history which he shared with us as we drove to the historical sites. We rode in the comfort of a new motor coach with a professional driver. Richard planned visits to historical sites such as the Habitation, LeHave, Port Royal, Grand Pre, the Deportation Cross and others. We also stopped in beautiful scenic areas such as Peggy's Cove, Lunenburg, the Bay of Fundy, Burncoat Head, and witnessed the Tidal Bore in Truro. We took part in Congres Modial Acadien activities such as a symposium, the Tintamarre(Acadian parade)and CMA concert in Yarmouth, the Broussard family reunion and the unveiling of the Joseph Broussard plaque. We stayed in clean, comfortable hotels each night. The meals were arranged at local town halls, museums, or restaurants. Some meals were catered with Acadian music provided. I learned of this trip from an Acadian Facebook site. I came with my 2 sisters and a friend. We all became good friends with the others on the group tour. For all of us it was a trip of a lifetime we will never forget! We will remain friends with Richard and the others. I hope to go on another of Novacadie's tours in the future.
If you have a chance to do one of Richard Laurin's tours you will be glad you did.

We (Louisiana "Cajuns") just returned from Nova Scotia to visit our ancestral homelands, a trip we've been planning for years. Before the trip, I asked around the Louisiana "Hebert" genealogy association for a tour guide recommendation and was pointed to Richard Laurin as "simply the best". Boy were they right.

How blessed we were to have Richard as our personal guide. His knowledge, calm demeanor and passion made our trip a memory for a lifetime. He made our trip very personal as well, showing us the lands, works, places of worship and burial areas of both my wife's (Dupuis) ancestors and mine (Hebert), staying with us late into each day to ensure we were able to soak it all in.

Thank you, Richard, for ensuring this story continues, and for all your work to reconnect us and the entire world to this rich heritage.

We thoroughly enjoyed our 12-day tour with Richard Laurin, despite Hurricane Fiona trying to mess it up! He tailored the tour to our requests and then adapted when Hurricane Fiona caused museums, forts, restaurants, and roads to close. Each day was an adventure! His vast knowledge of the geography, geology, history, and languages of the peoples who settled Nova Scotia astounded us. He is a born teacher whose passion helped us to understand and fall in love with the land and the people. It gave us a greater appreciation of embracing those around us, those we know and those we meet along our paths...and to endeavor to befriend them. Thank you again, our friend, Richard Laurin!

We thank you for making our bucket list trip to Nova Scotia become a reality. Particular thanks for not letting Hurricane Fiona get in the way of us seeing and experiencing the land of Acadie. We thoroughly enjoyed the miles we traveled, via walking or driving. You made each day an adventure with your expansive knowledge of the geological, historical, and geographical areas. Also, your passionate love of all things Acadian and Mi'KMaq...even Gaelic! Yes, we are now life long friends and hope to see you in Louisiana in the future!
